A seven-day ‘lockdown’ is underway across the country to prevent coronavirus infection. The ‘lockdown’ started at 6 am on April 5. It will continue till midnight on April 11.
However, a decision on whether to extend the lockdown period could be taken on Thursday.
At a press conference after the cabinet meeting on Monday, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said the review would be done on Thursday. Let’s see what happens.
“Let’s see what happens after seven days,” he added. We will review on Thursday InshaAllah. People have to cooperate. You are saying … if everyone wears a little mask and follows the hygiene rules, then it should not be a problem.
Asked if the lockdown would be extended if the situation remained as it is now, Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, “Let’s see, we will sit on Thursday.”
The second wave of corona is affecting people of all ages. As the virus has overwhelmed the top personalities of many countries of the world, it has also attacked the bodies of many MPs, ministers, state ministers and whips of senior leaders of the Awami League. More than 150 MPs, ministers and state ministers have been infected with the coronavirus since last year. Among them, more than 7,000 party leaders and activists, including state ministers, former ministers and four or five MPs, lost their lives in Korona. At present, 16 MPs, including a state minister, are suffering from coronavirus. Some of them are being treated in the hospital, some at home in isolation.
Again no one is in ICCU. Not only the MP-State Minister, more than 50 Awami League leaders are being treated in different hospitals of the country due to corona.
Awami League leaders and MPs said they did not have the opportunity to sit at home during the disaster as public representatives. So most of their colleagues have been attacked while standing by the people. Since the beginning of Corona, most of the MPs and leaders of different ranks have been attacked by Corona while standing by the affected people in the ongoing situation of the second wave.
Among the MPs are Mohammad Nasim of Sirajganj-1, Israfil Alam of Naogaon-6, Mahmud Us Samad Kayes of Sylhet-3, former mayor of Sylhet Badr Uddin Ahmed Kamran, state minister for religion Sheikh Abdullah, Awami League advisory council member Haji Maqbool and others. More than 600 leaders and activists have died in Corona.
Noakhali-3 (Begumganj) MP was attacked in Corona yesterday. Mamunur Rashid Kiran and his eldest son Jihan Al Rashid, Central Vice President of Chhatra League. The matter was confirmed by the MP’s son Jihan Al Rashid yesterday morning. Jihan said, ‘Although his father’s Kavid report came positive, he is physically healthy. There were no symptoms in the body.
Awami League culture secretary and Netrokona-3 MP Asim Kumar Ukil was infected with coronavirus on Tuesday. Asim Kumar Ukil’s wife, General Secretary of Juba Mahila League, Professor Apu Ukil told Bangladesh Pratidin that she was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on the advice of a doctor after being diagnosed with corona on Tuesday.
On April 4, Meher Afroz Chumki, Awami League’s women’s affairs secretary and Gazipur-5 MP, received the news that the coronavirus had been identified. He submitted a sample to the Parliament Secretariat for joining the Parliament on the same day. His corona comes positive. He is in isolation in his home.
Earlier on Sunday, Tangail-2 MP Vanvir Hasan Chhota Monir was infected with coronavirus for the second time. On Saturday, samples were given at a booth adjacent to the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. On Sunday his fruit came positive. Earlier, on September 21 last year, he was also attacked by Corona.
MP of Sirajganj-1 (part of Sadar and Kazipur) constituency Tanvir Shakil Joy has contracted coronavirus in the second phase. Mohammad Mintu, Tanvir Shakil’s personal assistant, confirmed the information on the night of April 4. He said MP Joy came to Dhaka on Saturday after completing his campaign in different areas of his constituency Kazipur for the last two days. On Sunday, he gave samples for testing for coronavirus (Cavid-19) at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Shyamoli. In the evening he was identified positive.
Former law minister Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru, a presidium member of the Awami League, president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and a member of parliament from Comilla-5 constituency, is in the ICU of the Combined Military Hospital. On March 15, Abdul Matin Khasru gave samples for corona test at the Parliament Secretariat. On the morning of March 17, his report came back positive. On the same day, he was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH). Abdul Matin Khasru was taken to the ICU on March 26 at around 12 pm. On April 1, Corona tested negative. He was transferred from CMH’s ICU to the general cabin on April 3, but was re-admitted to the ICU on the night of April 8.
Feni-2 MP and district Awami League secretary Nizam Uddin Hazari has been attacked by Corona.
