The High Court has issued a rule asking why the election of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the country’s top business body, should not be ordered to be stopped during the lockdown.
At the same time, the petition filed with the concerned authorities on April 14 to stop the election has been asked to be disposed of within seven days.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Mohammad on Tuesday (April 20) heard a writ petition filed by a voter challenging the validity of the election activities in the lockdown. Rashed Jahangir’s Virtual High Court passed the order along with the bench rule.
Voter Amir Uddin Bipul filed the writ petition. Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan was in favor of the writ petition in the court. He confirmed the order. The date for this election is May 5.
