Wazeda Parveen, headmistress of Salema Khatun Girls’ High School in Sarishabari, Jamalpur, has been accused of embezzling half a crore rupees. The chairman of the school management committee has given him a notice to show cause in the allegation. After receiving the notice, the headmistress has been asked to submit the report by April 30. Besides, he has been given 20 days leave from April 10 to April 30.
According to school sources, on September 12, 2019, an internal audit committee was formed in a four-member school headed by AHM Mashudur Rahman, a lecturer at Sarishabari College. In an audit of the financial year 2015-16, the issue of embezzlement of 57 lakh 14 thousand 12 taka 1 paisa came to the notice of the audit committee.
The audit objected and reported. The school management committee met on April 9 this year in the wake of the audit’s objection report. Mostafizur Rahman Shahzada, president of the school committee, wrote a letter to headmistress Wazeda Parveen on April 10 seeking a proper explanation of the objections raised by the meeting.
A group was trying to cover up the incident for mysterious reasons. Suddenly, the discussion of embezzlement allegations against headmistress Wajeda Parveen from Tuesday afternoon has become the top of the town in Sarishabari.
Sources further said that he has been carrying out his activities as a single power.
Headmistress Wajeda Parveen said, “I have received a notice showing cause. The reply to this notice will be given in writing in due course. He has not agreed to say anything before. The committee forced me to leave.
In this regard, the president of the school management committee Mostafizur Rahman Shahzada told Kaler Kanth that the school has been audited against the headmistress by an internal audit committee. The audit committee has received allegations of embezzlement against him. He has been given notice to show cause. He has been given a letter seeking an explanation of the amount in the wake of the audit’s objection report and has been given leave from April 10 to April 30.
Israt Jahan Barsha (11), a madrasa student, died mysteriously in Nangalkot, Comilla. Nangalkot police recovered the body of the child from the ceiling of his house in Ashwadia village of Daulkhand union of the upazila on Wednesday (April 21) afternoon. The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain of the village.
According to local sources, Anwar Hossain and his wife from Ashwadia village of the upazila went to fetch paddy from the land of a nearby village. When they returned home with the paddy, they saw their baby daughter Israt Jahan Barsha hanging on the ceiling of the house. Seeing the baby’s feet in the bed has created a mystery about death.
Nangalkot police sub-inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain said, “We rescued the baby girl from the hanging condition.” The inquest has been reported. The body will be sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue on Thursday morning for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report.
