The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the country’s main stock exchanges, saw an increase of Tk 2,313 crore in the outgoing week (April 18 to 22). Of this, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the main capital market of the country, had a turnover of Tk 2,240 crore and the other market, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), had a turnover of Tk 63.44 crore.

According to sources, despite the government’s general ban on coronavirus infection, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week 4 thousand 259 crore 8 lakh 45 thousand 69 transactions. Which is 2 thousand 240 crore 65 lakh 44 thousand 8 taka or 111 percent more than the previous week. The previous week’s transaction was 2 thousand 19 crore 22 lakh 922 rupees.
The average turnover on the DSE last week was 651 crore 97 lakh 49 thousand 156 taka. The previous week’s average transaction was 504 crore 80 lakh 50 thousand 230 rupees. In other words, the average turnover on the DSE during the week has increased by 348 crore 16 lakh 96 thousand 928 taka.
During the week, the DSE’s main index, DSEX, rose 124.64 points, or 2.35 percent, to 5,435.03 points. Among other indices, the Shariah Index rose by 27.31 points or 2.34 percent and the DSE-30 Index rose by 70.63 points or 3 percent to 1,236.39 points and 206.55 points respectively.
Before the start of trading on the first working day of last week, the market capitalization on the DSE was 4 lakh 72 thousand 754 crore 39 lakh 12 thousand rupees. And on the last working day of the week, at the end of the transaction, the market capitalization stood at 4 lakh 8 thousand 316 crore 61 lakh 72 thousand rupees. In other words, the investors have got back the market capitalization of Tk 5,562.42 crore in a week.
In the outgoing week, a total of 369 companies participated in the share and unit transactions on the DSE. Among the companies, the share price increased by 206 or 55.63 percent, decreased by 100 or 26.10 percent and the share and unit price of 83 or 16.07 percent remained unchanged.
The top 10 companies traded on the DSE last week were Beximco, LankaBangla Finance, Bangladesh Finance, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, British American Tobacco, Robi, Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh, Asia Pacific General Insurance and Insurance.
On the other stock market Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) in the outgoing week, the amount of money has been 197 crore 46 lakh 62 thousand 494 taka. And in the previous week the transaction was 73 crore 44 lakh 50 thousand 944 taka. In other words, the turnover on the CSE has increased by 125 crore 2 lakh 31 thousand 155 taka or 160 percent during the week.
In the outgoing week, the overall CSE index CASPI rose 344.39 points, or 2.23 percent, to 15,623.60 points.
Shares and units of 305 companies traded on the CSE during the week. Among the institutions, the prices of 181 companies have increased and decreased, 8 of them and the prices of 48 companies have remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, as confidence among investors has returned, the concerned people think that the market is stable even in the face of restrictions.
