Thousands of people attacked Noagaon village on March 18 on charges of insulting religion from mosques in six villages of Dirai and Shalla upazilas following Jhumon’s post on Facebook. We are still scared because the police have not arrested everyone.
At a rally in Dirai on March 15, Mamunul Haque made offensive remarks against various communities, including minorities. Jhamun Das Apan posted on Facebook criticizing Mamunul in this incident. Police arrested him on March 17. On the same night, the local leaders of Hefazat called for agitation in the mosques of Nachni, Chandipur, Saramangal, Santoshpur, Dhanpur and Kashipur villages of Dillai upazila alleging insult to religion. When they tried to attack the village of Noagaon at night, the administration stopped them. The next day, on the morning of March 16, the Hefazat leaders miked again from 8 mosques alleging insult to religion. Thousands of people from 6 villages attacked Noagaon village in the morning with native weapons. The attackers took part in the attack live on Facebook and showed the presence of thousands of people. They took part in the attack with slogans calling for action of Mamunul, Babungari and Hefazat. Which is still in the hands of the administration and the locals.
