Fifty of Tamim survived being out

Tamim Iqbal has survived. Wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella did not have the momentum to make a catch when his powerful 29-run shot hit Osada Fernando’s boot at Silly Point. But the question was whether the ball touched the ground before it hit Fernando’s boot!

The TV umpire took time. Saw again and again. Couldn’t be sure if the ball was caught directly from the boot, or if it touched the ground before it hit the boot. The on-field umpire’s ‘soft signal’ was against Tamim. But in the end, Tamim got the benefit of the umpire’s ‘doubt of mind’. Survived on the wicket. Then he took out Fifty. At the time of writing, Bangladesh have so far scored 83 for two in the second innings. Tamim is unbeaten on 60 runs. Muminul for 12 runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh batted in the second innings after a lunch break on the fifth day of the Pallekele Test. However, Bangladesh lost the wicket quickly by 107 runs. After failing again, Saif Hasan returned to the pavilion. Shortly after the first innings centurion Nazmul Hossain returned. Suranga Lakmal has returned the two. Saif has caught Niroshan Dickwella behind the wicket with his ball. Lakmal bowled Nazmul.

The Sri Lankan batsmen were a bit aggressive at the start of the fifth day. Two Centurion captains Dimuth Koranaratne and Dhananjaya de Silva were on the wicket. Taskin Ahmed broke the 345-run partnership between the two. De Silva played 291 balls. He has made 16 out of 22 fours. Captain Karunaratne was expected to be in his thirties. But his innings stopped at 244 runs. Karnaratne hit 28 boundaries off 437 balls. Bangladesh took 5 wickets in the first session of Sri Lanka. The Lankans also surpassed Bangladesh’s collection of 541 runs in a single session.

Sri Lanka went to the lunch break with 646 runs for 6 wickets. They announced the innings there. Only when something dramatic happens will this test come to fruition. However, Sri Lankan coach Mickey Arthur thinks that it is possible to bring results in this test as well. The Sri Lankan bowlers want to make the coach’s words come true by taking 2 wickets of Bangladesh at the beginning of the second innings. After failing again, Saif Hasan returned to the pavilion. Shortly after the first innings centurion Nazmul Hossain returned. Suranga Lakmal has returned the two. Saif has caught Niroshan Dickwella behind the wicket with his ball. Lakmal bowled Nazmu
