The government has decided to keep the shops and shopping malls open till 8 pm by amending the guidelines in case of corona infection. It will be effective for the next one week from April 29. State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain told the media on Monday. “We have to consider the infection situation and continue with the advice of experts,” he said. The government is going to take that step, a notification will be issued tomorrow (Tuesday). The status quo will continue for another week.
He said shops and shopping malls will be open from 10 am to 8 pm. Having to keep the market open in view of various conditions, they have a large investment here. Now the market is open till 9 o’clock, it will be reduced by one hour till 8 o’clock at night. Markets and shops will be operated in compliance with strict hygiene rules.
Earlier on Monday, the government decided to extend the ongoing lockdown by one more week. It will continue till midnight on May 5. The shops will remain open. Private carriages will run. But public transport will be closed till May 5.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam on Monday afternoon, sources said.
A source present at the meeting told Kaler Kanth that the coronavirus situation in Bangladesh is not yet a relief. So at the moment the government is not able to go in any direction that is very strict or completely open. So the situation is that the shop is currently open; The government will take the next decision after observing the situation for another week.
Today’s meeting was attended by high-ranking government officials and representatives of various sectors. If there is no exception to the said decision, an order in this regard may be issued this afternoon.
