The BNP is holding a protest rally in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Independence Day, accusing it of ‘killing people’ and ‘police attack’.
The BNP has been holding the program in front of the National Press Club since Monday morning. Leaders and workers of Mahanagar BNP and its various affiliates are taking part in this program.
The BNP staged protests on March 29 in divisional cities, including Dhaka, and on March 30 in district towns in the wake of last Friday’s clashes over protests against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The BNP is holding a protest rally in front of the National Press Club today as part of that program. Dhaka Metropolitan North and South BNP is the organizer of this program.
Leaders and activists participating in the program are standing on the road. Due to this, the traffic on the road in front of the National Press Club is being disrupted. Police have been deployed in and around the National Press Club to avoid any untoward incidents.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be the chief guest at the event, party leaders said.
Aman Ullah Aman, Advisor to the BNP Chairperson, Azizul Bari Heller, Information and Research Secretary of the BNP Central Committee, Emran Saleh Prince, Organizing Secretary, Bazlul Basit, Senior Vice President of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP, Abdul Alim, General Secretary of Mahanagar Dakshin were present on the occasion. Secretary Abul Basar, acting president of Swechchhasebak Dal Mostafizur Rahman, president of Chhatra Dal Fazlur Rahman, general secretary Iqbal Hossain and others.
At the rally, BNP leaders said 18 people had been killed so far. Killing people and police attacks on the Independence Day of an independent country is not desirable in any way. Independence has been tainted by this incident on Independence Day. The BNP wants a proper investigation and trial of this incident. Otherwise, the BNP led by Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman will strongly resist this injustice.
