Hefazat-e-Islam has retaliated by calling the statements of 11 prominent citizens of the country ‘anti-people’. Azizul Haque Islamabadi, the organisation’s organizing secretary, sent the statement to various media outlets on Wednesday.
Eleven people, including Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, issued a statement yesterday protesting the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Hefazat-e-Islam. They demanded the government to take strict action against Hefazat.
In retaliation, Hefazat said, “We consider the statement of a group of so-called separatists as inhuman, provocative and anti-people as anti-patriotic and anti-religious.” This statement bears witness to the shameless collusion of authoritarian fascism and hegemony. Instead of condemning the killings in the police firing, you have unilaterally called the mass resistance of the protesting people as anti-people by calling it so-called “violence”.
Azizul Haque said that he did not see any humanitarian sympathy for the victims of the violence in the statement of the 11 citizens.
