The Bangladesh Islamic People’s Party has demanded the arrest of Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque and others involved in the destruction of state property in the name of Islam within the next 72 hours. Otherwise, the religious group has warned of a nationwide morning-evening strike on April 5.
Today (Thursday) at the National Press Club in the capital, the Islamic People’s Party organized a discussion meeting titled “What action should be taken against those who destroy state resources in the name of Islam” – Bangladesh People’s Party Chairman Maulana Mohammad. Ismail Hossain.
Maulana Md. Ismail Hussain said, “In the light of the Holy Qur’an and Hadith, it appears that there is no opportunity in Islam to waste state resources by burning them unnecessarily.” In the interest of Islam or in the realization of any Islamic claim, the true view of Islam and the peaceful method should be followed. In this case, the Islamic religious parties in the country need to be more aware.
Demanding the arrest of Hefazat leaders, including Mamunul Haque, who instigated the violence, he said, “There will be a strong demand from the government that if those who have committed these terrorist acts in the name of Islam are not arrested within the next four days, we will go on strike in the morning.”
Announcing the strike, he said, “This strike will be strictly observed. Rickshaw-bicycles will not let anything go. Mamunul Haque’s house will also be cordoned off. Whether he lives in Lalbagh or wherever he lives, his house will be surrounded and he will be snatched and handed over to the administration. We will snatch as much blood as possible. ‘
Islamic thinker Alhaj Md. Haji Habib Ullah said, “Hefazat-e-Islam carried out violence in the same way as the Pakistanis carried out in 1971. The person named Mamunul Haque is not a Maulana. I am claiming Mamunul Haque as a transgressor. I demand to bring him under the law.
Secretary General of the organization Maulana Kazi Shah Mohammad Omar Farooq, Alhaj Mohammad also spoke at the meeting. It may be mentioned that Hifazat-e-Islam staged protests in different parts of the country including Brahmanbaria, Chittagong and Dhaka in protest of the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bangladesh. Several people were killed in the violence. Extensive arson and vandalism were carried out. Several government institutions and police stations were attacked.
