RAB has arrested two traders for using harmful jelly to increase the weight of shrimp in Padua market of Comilla. The detainees were fined Tk 60,000 in a mobile court. Executive Magistrate Mahamudul Hasan Russell of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office fined them in a mobile court. During this time 120 kg jelly mixed shrimp was destroyed.
The two traders are Ahidur Rahman of Ujan Muri village in Chauddagram of Comilla and Mohammad Shafiq of Adarsh Yapura village in Shahrasti of Chandpur. Meanwhile, 50 kg of jatka was seized from a fish trader named Zaheer Mia in the market. These have been distributed to orphanages.
RAB-11, CPC-2, Comilla Company Commander Major Talukder Nazmush Shakib said this in a press release on Friday afternoon. He said the operation was conducted on Thursday afternoon in collaboration with the district administration and the district fisheries department.
The people of the ethnographic community celebrated the Baha festival by dancing and singing. As soon as the spring season arrives, new flower arrangements are made on the trees and the anthropological people welcome spring, with their own traditions. At this time, the young women planted new flowers in their huts and danced and sang with joy. Ananda Utsav goes from village to village. Pots are made from house to house. Everybody eats pots and pans and sings and dances to the beat of Madal. And that joyous festival is “Baha Utsav”.
One of the major festivals of the ethnographic community is the “Baha Utsav” or Baha Parab. Baha means flower. That is why Baha Parab is called “Flower Festival” in Bengal.
Sanjeev Kumar Bhatti, Assistant High Commissioner of India, inaugurated the Baha festival at Kalam Saran-Alma Saran ground in Barkona village of Parbatipur upazila in Dinajpur on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Indian Assistant High Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Bhatti said that good relations existed between Bangladesh and India at all times. For example, the Bangladesh-India enclave problem has been solved without any problem. It has made possible the friendly relations between the two countries. An example of the good relations between India and Bangladesh is that in 2019, 1.8 million Bangladeshis were issued visas. Bhatti urged all to wear masks while maintaining social distance to beware of deadly corona. He welcomed the pace at which Bangladesh is moving forward.
Speaking as the chief guest of the Baha Utsav, MP Manoranjan Sheel Gopal said the role of the ethnographic community in the great liberation war must be remembered by the nation forever. None of the anthropological people are named in the Razakar’s register. On the contrary, everyone has played a brave role on the battlefield as a freedom fighter.
The 5th Baha Utsav Festival was organized by the Baha Utsav Celebration Committee in collaboration with the National Council of Indigenous Peoples, Village Development Center (GBK), ALRD, Keeping Foundation, UNDP.
Speaking as a special guest at the Baha Festival, National Tribal Council President Rabindra Nath Saran, Dinajpur Government College Professor. Masudul Haque, Parbatipur Upazila Parishad Chairman Hafizul Islam Pramanik, Parbatipur Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary. Amjad Hossain. Basanti Murmu, convener of Baha Utsab, delivered the welcome address. Manik Saran, Information and Research Secretary of the National Indigenous Council conducted the function.
