Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that the ongoing violence by an extremist communal force called Hefazat-e-Islam has exceeded all levels of tolerance. At the same time, he instructed the party leaders and workers to list the instigators of the violence.
Obaidul Quader gave the instructions to the leaders and workers during a regular press briefing at his official residence on Wednesday (April 8) morning.
Instructing the leaders and workers of all allied organizations including Awami League, Quader said, “We have to deal with them politically by preparing a list of the instigators of terrorism, anarchy and communal evil forces.” We will deal with this evil power politically.
He warned those involved in the violence not to play with fire. If you play with fire, he will burn your hands in the fire. There is a limit to the patience and tolerance of the people of the country. Exceeding the limit will have dire consequences.
The Road Transport Minister said the Awami League is still showing tolerance as it is in the government. Awami League leaders and activists know how to retaliate and if they attack, they also know how to retaliate. Do not break the barrier of patience, the nation will no longer tolerate the liberation war, the spirit of the liberation war and the humiliation of Bangabandhu. Awami League workers will respond to those who have attacked Bangabandhu’s pictures and sculptures.
Reacting to the negative comments made by the government on the decision of the government to introduce public transport in all city corporations of the country including Dhaka in the wake of the epidemic lockdown, Obaidul Quader said that some people are complaining that the government has taken a decision by bowing to transport owners and workers. The government has taken this decision to reduce the suffering in the public interest in the face of the demands of the people.
He said the rumors that long-distance buses would start plying in a day or two were not true.
