Diego Maradona, one of the best players in the history of football, did not leave the country on November 25 last year. The legend, who won the World Cup in that year, died at the age of 70 after a heart attack. Doubts arose, however, surrounding the death of the Argentine legend. There were allegations that Maradona could have been saved if doctors had been active. The medical board set up to investigate Maradona’s death spoke in support of the allegations, almost five months after the death of the football god.
The medical board said in a statement that “Maradona’s treatment was flawed and careless.” Maradona underwent brain surgery for bleeding a few days before his death. After a few days in the hospital, the doctors sent him to a rehabilitation center. A few days later, Maradona died of a heart attack.
The day after Maradona’s death, lawyer Matthias Morea demanded a full investigation. As a result, a committee of 20 specialists was formed to find out the exact cause of Maradona’s death in March and whether there was any medical negligence.
The special committee submitted its investigation report on April 30. “The doctors in charge of treatment treated Maradona in a faulty and careless manner,” they said.
The investigation report further said that Maradona had not received proper treatment since noon on the day of his death. That’s why he couldn’t fight a sudden heart attack. According to the Argentine media, the murder charge may be brought on the basis of this investigation report.
