After a year-long shutdown on the Barisal-Dhaka route due to the outbreak of coronavirus, Bangladesh Biman’s flight resumed on Friday. On the morning of the great Independence Day, the modern and new aircraft of Bangladesh Biman ‘Shwet Balaka’ landed at Barisal Airport with 72 passengers.
The plane landed at Barisal Airport at 9.30 am. Later, State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Farooq officially cut the ribbon and inaugurated it. Barisal Divisional Commissioner presided over the opening ceremony. Saiful Hasan. In his inaugural address, State Minister Zahid Farooq said, “We are celebrating the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and the golden jubilee of independence. We are all proud and happy that Bangladesh Biman flight has been launched on the Barisal-Dhaka route at the juncture of these two. ‘ The number of Bangladesh Biman fleets is increasing in line with the development that the Prime Minister is taking to today’s Bangladesh. I saw a time, there were flights, but there were no passengers. Because then the common man did not have financial means. But now Bangladesh is moving towards a prosperous country. Our financial consistency has increased a lot. As a result, tickets for the Barisal-Dhaka route could not be obtained even after the flights of several public and private airlines were on. The air service was suspended on March 21 last year. After that, all the people’s representatives of Barisal division and high-ranking officials of different departments have tried to get the flight resumed. I thank them for this.
The state minister said the people of Barisal and the southern region are neglected during other governments. Only when the Awami League government comes under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the region develops. Today the pigeon port is in the south, the work on the Padma bridge is nearing completion. There will be four lane road from Padma bridge to Payrabandar, there will be railway line. If these are the case, the establishment of industries and factories will continue to increase, people will be employed, the people of the region will be more self-sufficient economically.
The state minister added, “The airline was closed on March 21 last year. After that, all the people’s representatives of Barisal division and high-ranking officials of different departments have tried to get the flight resumed. I thank them for that. ‘
Biman Bangladesh Airlines new managing director (MD) and CEO Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal along with departmental and district administration officials were present on the occasion.
