A bomb blast has rocked a luxury hotel in the Pakistani city of Quetta. At least four people were killed and 12 others were injured. The Hindustan Times reported that a powerful bomb had exploded in the parking lot of the Serena Hotel in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta. The Chinese ambassador was staying at the hotel. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said four people were killed and 12 were injured in the blast. He called it a terrorist attack.
He added that a four-member Chinese delegation led by the ambassador was staying at the hotel. When the explosion occurred, the ambassador was out of the hotel to attend a meeting.
A police official said an explosive device may have been placed in a vehicle there. One police officer was killed in the blast.
The bomber struck shortly after 10:15 a.m. local time on Wednesday. Firefighters, rescue workers and security forces arrived at the scene.
